Day 1: Baku – arrival
Arrival in Baku. You will be met by our driver and transferred to the hotel. Check-in at noon. Free time.
Day 2: Baku
Start sightseeing tour in Baku. Visit Martyrs’ Lane, called ‘Shehidler Khiyabany’ among locals. When you walk through Martyrs’ Lane, you will find a beautiful view overlooking Baku’s coastline. Continue touring new Baku and exploring architecture of 19-20th centuries: Nizami Street, Fountain Square, Nizami Ganjavi monument, Rasul-Zade Street. Pay a visit to Azerbaijan History National Museum and move to the old part of the city – Icheri Sheher. Visit Maiden Tower, Shirvanshahs’ Palace, Caravanserai. An excellent round-up to the city tour will be a visit to the richest bank of Azeri carpets – National Carpets Museum.
In the evening enjoy traditional dinner at Azeri restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Baku – Absheron Peninsula – Gobustan – Baku
Today you will visit the area of the Greater Baku and Absheron Peninsula. Start with Gobustan National Park. Pay a visit to the Petroglyphs Museum and explore petroglyphs dating back to 10,000 BC. Continue to mud volcanoes in Gobustan Reserve. Gobustan is home to almost half of world’s mud volcanoes. Later drive to Ateshgah – temple of fire worshippers located in Surakhany village. Zoroastrians from India travelled thousands of kilometers to Ateshgah to worship fire coming out of the earth. Continue to Yanar Dag Mountain with natural gas burning for several thousands of years. Return to Baku. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4: Baku – Shamakhi – Lahij – Gabala
On the way Shamakhi, visit Diri-Baba Mausoleum in Maraza village. Continue to Shamakhi and have a sightseeing of historical Dzhuma Mosque, Yeddi Gumbez Mausoleum, and the Shirvan Shah’s family grave yard. Drive the Girdimanchay River’s canyon to visit Lahij, the 5th century place outstanding due to its historical interest and architectural merit. Lahij is mostly famous for magnificent ancient mosques and bath-houses. It is famous for its medieval water supply and sewage systems, as well as traditional jewelry, copperware, carpets, pottery, daggers, and iron tools workshops.
In the afternoon, continue driving to our final destination for the evening, the city of Gabala. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Gabala – Kish – Sheki
In the morning, check-out from the hotel and drive to Sheki. On the way, visit the first Albanian church in Caucasus dating back to the 1st century AD. Have sightseeing tour around Sheki. Visit stunning Sheki Khans’ Palace, a medieval fortress, and local History Museum. Continue to local mosque, handicrafts workshop, madrasah, and bazaar. Enjoy panoramic view of the town. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 5: Sheki – Ganja – Naftalan
In the morning, depart Sheki and drive to Ganja, the second biggest city in Azerbaijan. Visit Ancient Fortress Wall, statue of Nizami Ganjavi, Shah Abbas mosque, and a unique house decorated with thousands of bottles. Continue driving to Naftalan, the center of medical tourism in Azerbaijan. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Naftalan
This morning we explore Naftalan, the city famous for naphthalane oil spas that stand out with medicinal properties. You can take an oil bath and relax. Free day in Naftalan. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: Naftalan – Baku
Drive back to Baku. Check-in on arrival. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 8: Baku – departure
Check-out from the hotel till noon. Transfer to Baku International Airport. End of the tour.
